found heaven
You truly haven’t experienced a concert if you haven’t planned to make or DIY an outfit for it. I’m a DIY monster, through and through, and I’m not ashamed… like let’s wake it up where are all my DIY monsters at because I know for a fact that the people that have custom outfits for every concert are stronger than the troops. And trust and believe I am one of those people.
A week of custom outfits for two wildly different concerts- SWEAT by Charli XCX and Troye Sivan, and the Found Heaven Tour by Conan Gray. I had to match the vibe for each show so I started on my SWEAT outfit first. Been inspired recently by the looks of safety pins and heavy silver jewelry being the main centerpiece of an outfit, so I decided to compromise and do a little safety-pin-spine-lined button up that I made from a thrifted black button up that was cinched at the waist. And yes I did feel that it was necessary to share that it was cinched at the waist just now. I would totally explain more about my SWEAT fit, but the majority of it is documented on my YouTube (and yes I’m gonna shamelessly plug because that video was lowk good and y’all should watch it…) so go check it out there.
But yes, CONAN GRAY, Live and in concert at the Kia Forum. No, not to be mistaken with the Khia Asylum, that place is reserved for… other artists! And that’s all that I’ll speak on that…
This was my first time seeing him in concert which… there’s some lore to, because I was supposed to see him for the Superache tour, but I flopped on getting tickets because I wasn’t fully convinced that I liked that album at the time. Fast forward to now, I am now seeing him with the friend I was supposed to see Conan with originally (LOL) with full conviction that I liked Found Heaven. I decided to keep it simple for this DIY, a small knit vest with the star-teardrop motif on the back, and two laces in front to create a bow in the front. My only problem with this project involves my foe- colorwork. I’m over exaggerating (not really), its really not that bad (lie), it just was very time consuming because I had to sew every individual stitch (I hated every second I worked on the back panel).
Although I was on a time crunch, I decided to use this as an opportunity to brush up on my knitting skills, which kind of backfired because I am
1) a very slow knitter and 2) a very irritable person when I am working on a project with a time crunch, so this was just… not the best time I’ve ever had crafting… but you know we learn from our mistakes and that’s the lesson that should be learned from this.
Needless to say both concerts were amazing and continues to fuel the fire that is my love for live music. Also little flex but… my SWEAT tour outfit got featured on the official SWEAT Instagram page for the LA… like wait I kind of did a good job…
